Women’s Land and Water Rights in Southern Africa (WLWRSA) is a regional organisation, founded in 2002 and registered in 2003 under a Deed of trust in Zimbabwe (Deed No: 1094/2003).
The organisation was established to advocate for women’s land rights at national and regional levels, to enhance their contribution to food security and sustainable livelihoods. This was after realising that, although women form the majority of the farmers they are however marginalised in terms of access to, control and ownership of land. FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT:
Women’s Land and Water Rights in Southern Africa in partnership with Actionaid International-Zimbabwe is holding a National Land Conference on “Women’s land rights in Zimbabwe.” The land conference is scheduled for February 2009 in Zimbabwe-Check the site for more details
WLWRSA/WaterAid Programme:
WLWRSA in partnership with WaterAid will be implementing a 5 year programme in Zambia and Malawi on WATSAN. The aim of the 5 year programme is to increase the capacity and resources of civil society so as to participate in effective evidence-based dialogue with decision makers in the WATSAN arena and add to the pressure to secure pro-poor service delivery.
WLWRSA’s EForum:
WLWRSA will be launching an EForum soon. The EForum will be used for raising and discussing pertinent issues relating to its mandate with its partners. The outcome of the discussions will be consolidated into a document that will be used for advocacy activities at national, regional and pan African levels. More news> |
